Sr. Food Scientist/Manager

The Research and Culinary Manager will be responsible for overseeing technical and culinary teams that evaluate, develop, and implement value-added product solutions to consumers and customers.  The Manager, Research and Culinary will be a dedicated, on-site subject matter expert and technical resource to the New Product Development Team and will support the rapid development of innovative products and application testing.  This position requires strong technical and culinary acumen, as well as, the ability to build and foster positive business relationships across the organization and with external customers.




  • Direct application development of “gold standard” prototypes using ASR ingredients based on SBU and business priorities
  • Lead product demos and ideations of on-trend offerings to showcase ASR ingredient benefits to strategic customers for buy-in
  • Oversee production for culinary related special events, consumer based recipe development, photo shoots, and promotions as needed
  • Participate in marketing ideations to identify on-trend culinary prototypes/recipes to meet consumer base
  • Build and cultivate culinary science culture within organization by leading quarterly or semi-annually culinary classes/demos to cross-functional teams (technical, sales, marketing)
  • Manage sanitation, safety, and organization of Culinary Test Kitchen
  • Support broader R&D technical team and directly supervise Research Chef and relevant technicians



  • Research, design, and develop bench-top products from concept to scale-up and commercialization
  • Lead sensory testing and on-site consumer insights, when applicable
  • Implements formulations and product solutions for applicable ASR Groups including: Sales, Marketing, Product Quality, and Procurement
  • Transfers knowledge, results of work, and proposals to personal at all levels by high standard reporting, presentations, and other appropriate methods
  • Works proactively with flexibility with cross-functional teams (R&T, QA, Regulatory, etc.)
  • Implements R&D processes and procedures within Test Kitchen and Lab to ensure experimental consistency across product channels
  • Provide leadership and guidance to technical team pertaining to pilot plant trials, NFP’s, costing, and technical feasibility/production potential of all new products
  • Identify best “ways of working” across technical teams (R&T, Packaging, Regulatory), by implementing Technical Task Force

  • 7 or more years of experience in Product Development/Research and Project Management for the Consumer Goods Industry
  • Strong working knowledge of product development and familiarity with quality assurance procedures
  • At least 2 years of formal education or experience directly related to Culinary Management, recipe development, and customer interfacing
  • Advanced Degree is preferred
