OVERVIEW

Under direction of the Production Supervisor, the Operator packages, palletizes and ships blended batches of molasses, rice and malt products. This position is responsible for preparing, processing and monitoring the conversion of grain products into finished syrups, as well as loading and unloading trucks as necessary.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure process controls for production, cleaning and sanitation, and evaporation are met during the shift.
  • Adhere to schedules, make adjustments when needed.
  • Troubleshoot issues with team members, find root causes, implement effective solutions, and escalate problems when needed.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and present to Calumet team.
  • Work with management on special assignments or projects as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to established product specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to company SOPs and assist in developing new SOPs, if required.
  • Ensure proper CIP and sanitary practices to prevent contamination issues.
  • Prepare materials, check and weigh ingredients and dump ingredients in proper sequence into mixers. Mix according to proper timing per specifications.
  • Follow all GMP, Safety, SQF, sanitation and quality specs and procedures; actively participate on the HACCP team.
  • Assist and perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment problems, notify maintenance direct effect/direct repair when necessary.
  • Accurately complete all required daily documentation and SAP processing are completed daily.
  • Support other departments as needed. Obtain samples as required.
  • Reports to work on time and works overtime as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Solid working knowledge of pneumatic systems, industrial electricity, mechanical power, steam generation and distribution, and sanitary process and piping systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in liquid production or batch work manufacturing strongly preferred (i.e. food, chemical, beverage, etc.)
  • Experience with trouble shooting and programming of automated equipment control platforms (i.e., Allen- Bradley, Siemens PCS7, Rockwell Automation) strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to use Windows PC to include MS Office and SAP

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience requried.

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • A minimum of 3 years in the manufacturing industry
  • Very strong technical aptitude
  • Awareness of OSHA regulations, GMP, plant safety regulations, FDA guidelines for food plant operations and environmental regulations regarding manufacturing brewery operations preferred
  • Willing to work weekends and evenings; acceptance of varying and flexible schedules. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate issues, opportunities and risk when making decisions.
  • Exhibits the flexibility needed to respond to frequent changes in production requirements and/or systems and equipment failures
