The purpose of the Quality Technologist role is to initiate quality improvements within T&L Sugars using experience gained in the food and /or sugar industry to define best practice and therefore anticipate our customers’ requirements. Key aspects of this role are supporting the Quality Assurance Manager, building relationships with the factory teams and embedding Quality within the Thames site. The Quality Technologist will be expected to work closely with personnel from a wide range of functions within T&L Sugars factory facing operation teams and our customers.



  • To drive improvements in the site’s Food Safety and Quality Systems through active participation in the internal audit program, traceability exercises and GFSI and Third Party audits for the site.
  • Engage with other functions to embed Quality Assurance throughout the site.
  • Engage with other functions to maintaining an up-to-date HACCP plan
  • To be the point of contact for all customer related queries.
  • To drive Continuous Improvements in the site’s Quality Culture



Experience in a factory facing quality role.

Experience of sugar and/or food industry best practice

Exposure to customer interface, either as a supplier to industry or retailers



Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Food Science or related subject)














  • Ability to communicate best practice knowledge at various levels
  • Knowledge of cane sugar processing will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of relevant Food Safety and Quality systems and their implementation
  • The ability to influence people who may have conflicting priorities.
  • Proactive and motivated by change
  • Strong organizational, planning and decision making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as SharePoint, SAP, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
