OVERVIEW

The Senior Lab Analyst oversees all aspects of laboratory testing and all activities needed to maintain proficient laboratory setting & quality systems.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Raw Sugar testing (production and cargos)
  • Molasses testing (production and shipped)
  • Molasses derived products testing
  • Corporate round robin testing needs
  • Monthly reporting requirements
  • Provides back up testing for other roles within quality and environmental departments
  • Procures lab supplies, chemical, equipment necessary for efficient main laboratory and other satellite laboratories operations
  • Takes overall responsibility for all testing equipment, including scheduling and maintaining external equipment calibrations and services
  • Performs and maintains internal equipment verifications
  • Provides and manages necessary analysis support for process troubleshooting
  • Provides and manages training of new hires in quality department (hourly and staff)
  • Provides and manages training support for any process staff testing needs
  • Implements and manages lab proficiency testing
  • Evaluates, develops and validates new methods and provides feedback on new applications
  • Evaluates and provides feedback on analyses and trends
  • Actively identifies and promotes departmental opportunities for improvement
  • Performs records and documents review and verification with necessary follow up actions
  • Supports quality management in day to day quality functions and unexpected developments
  • Willingly assists quality management in food safety and quality investigations
  • Takes lead on managing dispositions associated with hold system
  • Manages aspects of the COA program
  • Actively participates and promotes Redpath’s safety goals and objectives
  • Actively participate and promotes Redpath’s food safety and quality goals and objectives
  • Professionally represents company at internal and external meetings
  • Other tasks as identified

 
WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in similar role
  • Experience of customer and vendors interface

 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or equivalent from accredited college or university.   Major in food science or related field is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate best practice knowledge to a wide audience
  • Ability to work  effectively with other laboratory  staff
  • Knowledge of cane sugar processing an advantage
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices and methods an advantage
  • Knowledge of relevant quality systems
  • Excellent knowledge of quality systems, and their implementation
  • Commitment to achieving the highest possible quality standards
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence people who may have conflicting priorities
  • Proactive and motivated by change
  • Strong organization, planning and decision making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as SharePoint, SAP, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Efficient in statistical analysis
