OVERVIEW

The Manager, Trading role will be responsible for managing the commodity risk for Redpath Sugar Ltd. This includes Raw Sugar, FX, and Energy

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of the raw sugar (no.11), energy, and currency risk exposure
  • Collaborate with other ASR Global Sugars Group (GSG) geographies on risk strategies
  • Analyze world sugar market to provide market views and support the best/most profitable structure for the Global Sugars Group (GSG) supply book.
  • Liaise with and provide support to the refinery Sales teams.  Lead and/or support good and regular communication and coordination with the Sales teams including training to ensure Sales teams understand the relevant market data and dynamics.
  • Ensure all trades are compliant and recorded within specified internal processes.  Adhere to the Trading Risk Policy at all times.
  • Initiate and lead the development of strong relationships with all relevant suppliers and consumers.
  • Maintain open and collaborative relationships with internal company stakeholders (Sales, Operations, Business Functions, etc.)
  • Support sales contracts in specified sugar markets.
  • Obtain approval from Legal and Compliance for any risk-associated changes to standard contractual terms.
  • Manage ITAS and other systems to ensure they properly reflect appropriate company positions.
  • Analyze the GSG book and develop strategies how the company can save/make money through efficiencies in the book.  Recommend actions that optimize and protect GSG positions.
  • Ensure desk cover at all times.
  • Promote understanding of ASR’s way of working and systems where appropriate.
  • Perform other duties not listed, as necessary.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Commodity Risk Management Expertise – Extensive experience working in derivative trading (futures and options).  Excellent understanding of commodity and currency markets including fundamental and technical analysis and excellent ability to execute orders especially in low liquidity situations.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related discipline from an accredited university required.
  • MBA from an accredited university preferred.
