OVERVIEW

ASR Group seeks a Financial Analyst with both proficiency in data science and demonstrated experience in investment analysis. This individual will work within the company’s internal finance and strategy group, advancing the analysis underpinning some of the company’s most consequential investment decisions. Ideally, he/she will have a keen interest in working for an asset-intensive manufacturing operation on a range of projects related but not limited to: powerhouse/energy asset improvements, refining process enhancements, packaging line expansions, warehousing developments, and supply chain logistics enhancements.

 

The Financial Analyst will exercise his/her proficiency with manipulating and analyzing large data sets to provide unique insights and recommendations to senior leadership that improve its investment decision-making capabilities and ultimately drive the efficiency and profitability of the company. Leveraging both an aptitude for investment analysis and an expertise in computer science (Python in particular), databases, machine learning, algorithms, and probability and statistics, this individual will be expected to lead cross-functional projects to answer complex questions and form actionable investment recommendations.        

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform analyses to identify value creation opportunities across all aspects of ASR’s business including operations, supply chain, sales, marketing and other functions
  • Model discounted cash flows to compare the IRR and NPV of investments scenarios 
  • Extract insights from data and effectively using images, charts, and conceptual frameworks to synthesize key takeaways
  • Develop actionable and well-presented investment recommendations
  • Collaborate across functions and regions with ASR colleagues in implementing solutions

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 4-5 years of overall relevant and progressive experience

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • M.S. in Data Science or related field of study a plus but not required
  • B.A. or B.S. required
  • Relevant course work in both corporate finance and computer science; training in data analytics, data visualization, and statistics preferred

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Immediate project management and delivery responsibility including case-by-case management of junior team members and analysts – no direct reports to start

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES, EXPERIENCES & BEHAVIORS

  • Data sleuth – approaches problems with an unbiased, objective, and data-first approach
  • Detail-oriented, team-oriented, accountable, with a bias for action
  • Comfortable in communicating with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Strong knowledge of computer science and data analysis required
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles helpful but not necessary
  • Expert skills in Microsoft EXCEL, POWERPOINT
  • Preference for experience utilizing advanced analytical tools (e.g., Anaplan, Power BI), ERP systems (e.g., SAP Business Intelligence), S&OP systems (e.g., SAP IBP), and manufacturing process software (e.g. Wonderware)
  • Open and capable of learning new technologies that optimize existing processes and enhance efficiency
  • Highly adept at working with large data sets and data mining

  • Travel less than 5% but may fluctuate
