OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintaining and repairing of plant packaging machines and conveying equipment and systems, including construction of new systems assigned.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Required to ensure personnel follow all GMP and safety policies.
  • The position is responsible for the day to day supervision, motivation and training of the Packaging and Electrical Technicians.
  • Responsible for the productivity of personnel in regards to timeliness in diagnosing and completing necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Required to be familiar with and maintain all packaging sugar distribution systems as they relate to the sugar feed to packaging machines.
  • Required to develop and implement any preventive maintenance programs to minimize machine breakdowns due to failure of systems under their control.
  • Required to participate in the planning and scheduling of construction work to be done by either plant personnel or outside contractors and is responsible for the timely and efficient completion of the work.
  • Required to coach and develop subordinates, maintaining good labor relations, morale and discipline in the shop and to initiate corrective actions when required.
  • Support all other packaging supervision as required including successful completion of daily tasks as well as vacation relief of other packaging supervisors.
  • Work with the storeroom personnel to ensure maintenance materials inventory is accurate and available.

ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 year degree is required.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar inventory and PM program is a plus.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing tools and/or TPM is a plus.
  • Keep abreast of new technology in areas of responsibility to improve performance.

  • Must be able to perform tasks such as climbing, lifting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform tasks while wearing all required PPE such as but not limited to protective clothing, safety glasses/goggles, steel-toed boots.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
