OVERVIEW

The Bulk Sugar Operator is responsible for the loading and shipping of product by rail car.   

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observes condition of sugar to ensure quality guidelines are followed
  • Prepares cars for loading and shipment
  • Operates and cleans bulk loading equipment
  • Ensures movement of correct grade sugar to proper locations
  • Operates bulk loading scale, feeder screws, screw conveyors, elevators, etc., using electric control board and/or push buttons.
  • Retrieves and labels periodic samples for lab analysis  
  • Inspects empty hopper cars, magnets, screens, scales, conveyors, elevators, etc. for cleanliness, damage, etc., and to ensure proper operating function.
  • Checks weight scale balance according to manufacturer’s specifications; adjusts scales, screens, etc. when necessary for proper operation.
  • Cleans work area, hopper care, and equipment such as conveyors, panel boards, scales, screens, magnets, etc, using solutions, equipment, hand tools, etc.
  • Operates lift truck to transport waste materials as required.
  • Operates Track mobile within refinery premises to switch rail cars as directed.
  • May assist in spotting, switching, coupling, and uncoupling railroad cars using necessary tools.
  • May perform similar additional duties as prescribed by foreman. 
  • Performs all jobs in accordance with established safety practices and sanitation standards.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience working in a bulk loading department in a manufacturing setting.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Must have the ability to recognize different grades of sugar
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, and climb as needed
  • Must have mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of conveyor, elevator, vibrating screen, weight scale, etc. equipment.
  • This position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.

 

HOURLY RATE:

Starting Hourly Rate: $30.88

Paid sick time and vacation after 90 day probationary period.
