OVERVIEW

 The Iron Worker is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing complicated lay-outs, using equipment such as tanks, supports, buildings, hoppers, sheet metal patterns, etc.

 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lays out major and difficult installations from blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Uses electric or gas welding equipment to work with any type of steel, iron, or alloys used in the refinery.
  • Instructs lower rated iron workers in the proper performance of their duties as required.
  • Erects and removes hand rails, cat walks, building supports, tank supports, drives steel foundations, bends copper pipe, etc., using tools such as sheers, drill presses, cutting torch, welding machine, brake, roller, steam  hammer, taps, wrenches, hoists, chain blocks, etc.
  • Performs fabrication, erection, and removal of ducts, gutter pipes, etc.; cuts, bends, brazes copper pipe; drives and bucks rivets.
  • Performs all duties such as the above in carrying out the orders of Supervisors

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Three/Four Years prior experience

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school education or equivalent.

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

  • Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, and schematic drawings, as required.
  • Performs all jobs in accordance with established safety practices and sanitation standards
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of welding and fabrication of iron steel are required.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must be able to use iron worker’s tools and shop equipment and be able to erect, dismantle, and repair metal equipment.

 

HOURLY RATE:

  • Starting Rate: $33.96
  • Paid sick time and vacation after 90 day probationary period.
