OVERVIEW

Operates by aid of automatic controls the complete Wash House operation, to include raw sugar mingler elevators and scale elevators, mingling scrolls, mixers, centrifugal machines, pre-melters scrolls, melter tanks, wash sugar liquor tank and other related equipment.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates control panel and continually inspects each operation in Wash House to ascertain if controls and equipment are operating properly.
  • Takes scale counter reading daily.
  • Washes lint catcher, tops of centrifugals , and other equipment with water hose; keeps float gages clean with water hose; cleans and changes strainers on pumps.
  • Cleans hoppers; keeps hard sugar free from automatic cut off gauge in lower surge hopper.
  • Controls lime and water as needed for operations.
  • Skims trash from top of melter.
  • Takes brix reading and other samples regularly; and adjusts controls to change operation as needed.
  • When equipment failure is detected and is a malfunction caused by circumstances beyond operator’s qualifications to correct, notifies mechanics and foreman.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

•       Requires 1-2 years of prior experience working/training in an industrial/manufacturing setting.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of Process Technician (PTECH) program/degree is preferred

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Effective communication with others is required
  • Must have the ability to take brix samples, reach instruments, turn valves, and adjust switches
  • Must have the physical ability to lift up to 50lbs. effectively if needed; Must have ability to stand, bend, climb, reach, lift, and walk through work area
  • The ability to work in a hot, humid, and dusty environment is necessary
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed


HOURLY RATE

  • Starting Rate:$29.98
  • Paid sick and vacation time after probation period.
