OVERVIEW

The Corporate Project Engineer I will handle various complex projects. The individual in this position is expected to gather requirements and develop preliminary layout and design, as well as prepare cost estimations, project evaluations, and business justifications for their assigned projects. The Corporate Project Engineer I is also expected to work with Operations to provide feedback, select equipment, evaluate designs, and develop budgets. They are expected to work cross-functionally to make sure all aspects of the projects are covered and supported. Most projects will involve a high level of coordination with Operations and hands-on engineering which will require time spent in the field during development and execution. This is an individual contributor role; and the individual in this role will require a demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and make decisions.

 

DETAILED ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop SOWs for project work / equipment installation
  • Work with Procurement to recommend qualified contractors and conduct pre-bid walkthroughs with contractors; work with Procurement to review / condition contractor proposals and award contracts
  • Work closely with Procurement and Operations team to comply with Corporate Standards
  • Participate in / lead HazOp and HACCP studies
  • Manage installation of approved projects under Project Manager’s supervision
  • Establish project team, facilitate meetings, and document team activities
  • Ensure contractors work in accordance with all safety requirements; monitor contractors to ensure quality workmanship; authorize payment to contractors
  • Ensure project installation adheres to design and manage project cost and schedule
  • Provide spend projections using Anaplan
  • Develop designs for field-detailed items and implement design changes as required
  • Communicate and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Plan and lead commissioning efforts including supporting resources
  • Ensure Stores has the appropriate spare parts on-hand prior to commissioning and hand-over
  • Plan and lead training efforts including supporting resources
  • Support post-project completion audit blending in experiences with other projects
  • Support development of long-term CapEx project pipeline

 

RECOMMENDED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Project Engineer or in an engineering related position
  • Industry experience in Food Production, Food & Beverage or CPG industry is a plus
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings; ability to edit CAD drawings
  • Intermediate capabilities with MS Project or similar software
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and read PFDs and P&IDs
  • Industrial food processing experience a plus
  • Experience with GMP Practices a plus
  • Experience with Sanitary Design a plus
  • Experience with OSHA Regulations and/or regional HSE Regulations preferred
  • Exposure to and ability to participate in HAACP audits preferred

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Chemical preferred) from an accredited university

SALARY PAY RANGE: $65,000 - $108,000 plus bonus

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
