OVERVIEW
The Packaging Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating packaging operations during assigned shifts. This role ensures that production schedules are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance. The Packaging Shift Lead will manage a team of operators and technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
This position requires the flexibility to work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, as needed based on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Organize products at the beginning of the shift and establish order of operations per position by SKU
• Lead operations of the Motus cart unloader, Lantech case erector and sealer, BMG baggers, Videojet printers, and Mettler Toledo metal detectors.
• The understanding of each SKU and product dimensions, run rates and packing requirements.
• Validate metal detector operations and hourly checks per Metal Detection Calibration Log (300-F-017) are conducted properly reporting any issues to Production Supervisor.
• Check each product prior to packing for any non-conforming issues and notify the Production Supervisor immediately of not meeting Tellus quality standards or metal detector rejections.
• Know how to create individual pallet labels for each pallet created.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks if Warehouse Associate is not present.
• Ensure the correct Lot Code is printed on all cases.
• Complete all standard work and report any equipment or process discrepancies to Production Supervisor.
• Utilize good manufacturing practices and ensure work is complete to the required standard.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and identify hazards that may arise.
• Follow all health and safety rules and regulations.
• Any other tasks required from time to time may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in manufacturing or related fields is a plus.
• Forklift Certified (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in packaging or warehouse (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be flexible, reliable and well organized.
• Work and disciplinary record will be considered
• Good verbal, reading, writing and basic math skills
• Physically able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, lifting, reaching and pulling.
• Must be able to frequently lift 25 to 60 pounds.
