Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of the SRDP Electrical is to learn about and obtain a broad experience of the manufacturing process and our business generally. Very quickly, the SRDP position will then be required to contribute a high level of energy to the execution and continuous improvement of the refining process, based on their learning and experiences. Success in this role is based upon being able to demonstrate clear value to the business by executing against key objectives.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on optimization projects to provide continuous improvements in safety, hygiene, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) performance.
- Gain experience of supervising electrical operations. Provide cover for supervisors and managers where appropriate.
- Evaluate new product development (NPD) and equipment investment opportunities.
- To participate in equipment upgrades and installations ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required specification.
- Develop projects to improve reliability.
- To work alongside the engineering team to ensure correct and relevant engineering documentation is available.
- To use knowledge and experience to avoid, anticipate and deal with engineering problems.
- To assist the maintenance team ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently.
- Must be able to work in a Safety Conscious Work Environment and willing to identify any safety concerns.
- Knowledge and experience in conducting maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs on pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, control and instrumentation equipment and infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
- Follow manufacturers’ guidelines on testing and maintaining plant equipment and identifying issues that may cause premature failures.
- Troubleshoot using testing equipment and meters to identify issues with medium and low voltage, Allen Bradley PLC’s, control and instrumentation equipment.
- Must be familiar with repairing, servicing, calibrating and installing process instrumentation. Including but not limited to level, temperature (RTD and thermocouple), flow, pressure, absolute pressure, and analytical transmitters.
- Must be familiar with repairing, servicing, calibrating and installing control valves and valve positioners, and current to air converters (4-20ma to 3-15psi).
- Reading and understanding schematics, PIDs, manuals, manufacturer’s specifications, and diagrams in diagnosing the root causes of the problem.
- Repair components that control and automate plant equipment.
- Perform ancillary tasks to complement the job task not limited to operation of man lift, rigging, forklift operation and scaffolding erection.
- Effective Oral and Written communication skills required.
- Must be available to work a rotating shift arrangement as required.
- Must be able to work most weekends and holidays to perform maintenance as required.
ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES
- Experience of working in a Manufacturing or Production environment preferable
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Educated to degree standard with relevant degree pass in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
