OVERVIEW
Responsible to help Operations make data-driven decisions by implementing data analysis techniques in fields such as data mining, statistics, and predictive analytics by providing correlations, solutions and trends of our operations. Responsible to develop processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, either structured or unstructured.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use data and analytical ability to support operations by finding and interpreting multiple data sources
- Manage large amounts of data, merge data sources, and ensure consistency of datasets
- Create visualizations to aid in understanding data and/or build mathematical models using the data
- Work creatively with exploratory analysis and rapid iteration to get/present results with interactive dashboards
- Have curiosity to make discoveries with big data, distill them into a very clear set of hypotheses, and work with research scientists to validate findings
- Communicate learnings/insights/findings and suggest its implications for new business directions
- Use creative ways to visually display information and make the patterns/findings simple, clear and compelling
- Advise Operations team on the implications of the data for their day to day activities, processes and/or decisions
WORK EXPERIENCES
- Minimum of two 2 years of previous experience as a data scientist (preferred)
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in data science, computer science and applications, modeling, statistics, analytics or mathematics
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

- Understanding of statistics, statistical programming language, like R or Python, and a database querying language like SQL
- Familiar with modeling and machine learning methods like k-nearest neighbors, random forests, ensemble methods or others
- Familiar with ArcMap, image processing and GIS/GPS technologies
- Ability to use and combine different analytical techniques
- Ability to deal with imperfections in data, missing values, and/or inconsistent formatting
- Ability in visualizing and communicating data to support data-driven decisions
- Data-driven problem solver and intense curiosity and desire to go beneath the surface of a problem
- Associative thinking, curiosity and creativity
- Knowledge on experimental design and evaluation.
- Must be able to function independently, demonstrate flexibility and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and management
- Solid communication skills – requires the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written. Ability to effectively present information to operations and team members
- Must be able to coordinate multiple duties and work under tight deadlines
