OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a three-shift operation of 10 to 15 associates driving the packaging results through effective resource management, safe operating procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and regulatory compliance.

 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the production of products to meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and customer delivery requirements.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, safety standards and quality of products.
  • Train, coach and involve employees; appraise performance; offer praise and hold accountable; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Oversee and review all required paperwork, reports and documentation.
  • Drive CI culture and Lean-Six Sigma principles through the continuous training and development of production staff
  • Coordinate the production planning process with the other departments for downtime for PM and Work Order completion.
  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams for the continuous on-going improvement of methods and processes.
  • Continually review, recommend and implement programs to comply with all State, Federal and local safety and sanitation regulations and employment issues.
  • Ensure proper up-keep of equipment; address and resolve problems; initiate work orders for repairs.
  • Maintain a high level of completion of quality initiatives for the plant such as CAPA Completion/SQF Preparedness/HAACP Awareness/GMP’s
  • Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers. Performs all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required and if required.
  • Daily manage team member’s timecards in payroll system including attendance point tracking.
  • Update production boards with daily goals vs. actual production and action plan to recover in not meeting goals.  Perform back flushing of daily production in SAP. 
  • Perform several regular routine walks through out shift to ensure team members are performing to expectations and lend support when not meeting expectations.
  •  Make yourself available 24/7 with on-site support and or via cell phone calls, text or teams messaging. 
  • Update daily downtime metrics.
  • Develop Work Instructions and perform training.
  • Develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence of inefficiencies and follow up to ensure completion. 
  • Lead and ensure team members attend weekly tailgate meetings.
  • Ensure operator specific training records and documentation are kept on each direct report.
  • Ensure cross training of team members and develop training timelines.

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 3+ years leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and develop a team of 10-15 associates on a daily basis.
  • Leads by example to create and maintain a workplace culture that engages and motivates associates at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop relationships across all levels and functions of the organization to support overall business success.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions regarding resource utilization and needs.
  • Experience implementing Continuous Improvement tools to improve Packaging & OEE Performance preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of SAP, Kronos, and Mii preferred.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Organization Leadership/Management preferred) strongly preferred.
  • Associates degree required or equivalent experience as determined by HR.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This position directly supervises a team of 15+ hourly associates.
