OVERVIEW

Directs and coordinates activities of production departments in the production and packaging of products in an industrial operations facility. Manages and directs a team of supervisors in accomplishing the following: plan production operations; establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products; prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production of product types, quantities, specifications and quality of products meet requirements.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages team of production supervisors, across all 3 shifts, to deliver quality and quantity of production to meet demand.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems. 
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations: establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production quality, and quality of products, meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related management experience, including overseeing supervisors and managing a multi-departmental manufacturing/ production operation.
  • Food or beverage production experience strongly preferred.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from a 4-year college or university.  Engineering degree preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement or quality certification(s) strongly preferred.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Manage team of production supervisors on all three shifts.
