POSITION SCOPE

The scope of the role relates to sugar import and export, with special focus on all operations related with raw sugar discharge and import, demerara import for direct consumption and export of sugars and molasses to third countries. The scope involves daily interaction with GSG sourcing and operations and other areas at Sidul, such as finance/accounting, production, sales and external entities, such as customs, shipping agents, stevedores, supervision and transports.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with GSG and ensure all interested local parties are duly informed of scheduled arrivals of raw sugar vessels; keep tracking of vessel position with special focus on booking discharge services and preparation of customs clearance;
  • Submit import documentary instructions and ensure timely arrival of all relevant shipping documents, licences and valid certificates of origin for raw sugar and other sugars for direct consumption;
  • Follow raw sugar discharge progress;
  • Supervise all the reports and facts related to the discharge operations and prepare reports for Customs, IFAP, auditors or other agents related with the import/export activity;
  • Keep track of raw sugar stock position and ensure customs procedures for transfer of stock from bonded to free circulation as required for melting and in accordance with customs status/legislation;
  • Be up to date with relevant EU legislation;
  • Request and monitor customs authorisations for the use of special procedures such as IPR and End-Use;
  • Provide information to Finance regarding duties that need to be guaranteed and/or settled;
  • Calculation of import dispatch/demurrage;
  • Validation of invoices from suppliers related to import/export;
  • Arrange export customs clearance in coordination with export sales account, internal and external logistics, shipping agents and customs broker;
  • Ensure all customs procedures and export documentation to third countries is issued in compliance with rules and deadlines;
  • Comply with all the standards, policies and requirements of Quality, Food Safety and Food Defence.

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • A good knowledge of European customs regulations and import/export procedures;
  • A good knowledge of shipping operations and flows;
  • SAP transaction and Excel skills;
  • Portuguese as mother tongue and fluent in English (mandatory) and in Spanish (preferable);
  • Ability to communicate clearly and in a customer satisfaction oriented way;
  • Ability to liaise effectively with colleagues in other departments and work as part of a European-wide team;
  • Capacity to adapt to change and continuous improvement requirements.

  • Degree level.
