Work will also include updating management of documentation and/or documentation of existing systems.

Additionally, the role includes the development and use of 3D CAD models and point cloud (laser scan) data to support brownfield design, layout development, and spatial validation. The CAD Designer must be able to interpret point cloud models, extract relevant information, and assess spatial constraints, interfaces, and overlays within existing facilities.

  • Update existing drawings to reflect modifications and improvements to existing systems
  • Check and revise own drawings as needed
  • Perform all field measurements which may be required to complete an assignment
  • Perform basic calculations to determine material requirements – e.g., volume, load, stress, etc.
  • Check vendor design drawings for major equipment against purchase specifications
  • Prepare purchase requisitions as necessary
  • May participate in and/or provide technical assistance on equipment start-up operations, and on solutions to maintenance problems which are within their area of responsibility
  • May direct contractors and in-plant labor on project implementation

  • Develop and manage AutoCAD 2D and 3D models in support of project delivery
  • Use AutoCAD Plant 3D selectively in line with company work instructions to avoid generation of heavy or non-user-friendly models
  • Work with point cloud (laser scan) models to extract geometry and develop accurate layouts for brownfield environments
  • Evaluate spatial constraints, interferences and clashes using overlay of point cloud data and proposed designs
  • Convert complex 3D and point cloud data into clean, simplified 2D deliverables suitable for project teams and contractors
