OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Sr Corporate Packaging Engineer, the successful candidate will support the Corporate EU Packaging network. The purpose of the Packaging engineer position is to learn about and obtain broad experience of the Packaging operations within our EU business.
This is an exciting opportunity as you’ll get great exposure to several different projects ranging from new lines at our London sites, too looking at performance issues with our Packing lines. You’ll also work on a variety of different equipment due to the diversity of the types of products & packaging we use.
The position will then be required to contribute to the execution and continuous improvement of the packing operations process, based on their learning and experiences. Success in this role is based upon being able to demonstrate clear value to the business by executing against key objectives.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
- Work on optimization projects to provide continuous improvements in safety, hygiene, quality and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) performance focusing on the key packaging lines at both our EU sites.
- Proficient in carrying out hands-on activities in both mechanical & Electrical discipline.
- Evaluate new product development (NPD) and packing equipment investment opportunities.
- To participate in equipment/line upgrades and installations ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required specification.
- Develop projects to reduce packing over-weights, packing material wastage and re-melt.
- To work alongside the engineering team to ensure correct and relevant engineering documentation is available.
- Proficient in using SAP CMMS or equivalent system to administer changes and create new Predictive maintenance plans.
- To use knowledge and experience to avoid, anticipate and deal with engineering problems.
- To assist the maintenance team, ensure that maintenance activities are carried out efficiently.
- Familiar with Root cause analysis techniques.
- To always maintain high quality and safety standards.
- Ability to look for new technologies which can be brought into Packaging operations.
- Familiar with the following equipment’s but not limited to : Multi-head weighers, Auger fillers, Vffs, Case erectors, Case packers, Metal detectors & check weighers, Ink jet printers, Luid fillers, Bottle cappers, Conveyors, Palletisers, Robotic palletisers, Pet Bottling lines, etc
WORK EXPERIENCES
- Experience of working in a Manufacturing or Production environment is preferable.
- Experience of Predictive/Preventative maintenance techniques and regimes.
- Mechanical bias
- PLC systems within packaging equipment experience.
- Lead continuous improvement projects from start to finish.
- Ability to speak with & work with a range of stakeholders
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably an HNC/NVQ 4 in an engineering discipline, at least BTEC/ONC in relevant discipline.
- City & Guilds apprenticeship trained.
LOCATION OF ROLE
- Thames, London. Travel to other sites located at Leeds & Lisbon as required.
