OVERVIEW

The purpose of the Quality Assurance Manager role is to initiate quality improvements within T&L Sugars using experience gained in the food and /or sugar industry to define best practice and therefore anticipate our customers / regulatory requirements. Key aspects of this role are quality management system auditing of the factory & personnel, embedding Quality culture within the organization. The Quality Assurance Manager will be expected to work closely with personnel from a wide range of functions within ASR Corporate, T&L Sugars and our customers.

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring procedures are current and documentation is regularly reviewed.
  • Lead & participate in GMP and internal audit programs, working with the site operations to identify root cause of issues and to drive timely resolution of any identified corrective action plan.
  • Assist the Quality Technical Manager in actively supporting internal, customer, and regulatory audits such as: BRCGS, Organic, Halal / Kosher
  • Manage customer complaints, ensuring timely completion of investigations, review corrective actions and analyzing root cause trends.
  • Maintain and enhance the Food Safety plan (HACCP) delivering relevant training and supporting production teams to elevate food safety standards.
  • Acting as the QA lead for site - Drive continuous improvement within the site, continually pushing the quality standards. Challenge status quo and pursue continuous improvement activities where necessary
  • Manage the quality department aspects of the RedZone site-wide paperless quality records system on site
  • Conduct traceability and mass balance exercises to ensure compliance and system integrity.
  • Administer the Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) system, Non-conformance log and Hold log to ensure effective incident tracking and resolution. To drive closure of non-conformances including coaching of individuals to avoid re-occurrence
  • Collect and submit samples for microbiological, environmental, and chemical analysis, including end of shelf life samples. Ensure that for any out of specification results the escalation procedure is followed and that all necessary actions and retest are completed and documented.
  • To provide training in all aspects of site quality as required

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (food science, chemistry, or related subject)

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Experience and in-depth working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety certification requirements, including principles of HACCP
  • Experience and knowledge of customer technical & quality codes of practice, (Retailers & Food Service)
  • Exposure to food industry good manufacturing practice, and food legislation
  • Exposure to working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is desirable
