POSITION SCOPE

Responsible for the management of Purchasing activities within assigned spend categories of ASR Europe, particularly for contributing to and supporting the development of the Category Management Strategies  designed to ensure that timely, cost-effective and robust contracts are sourced, negotiated, awarded and maintained with key suppliers and strategic partners, while maintaining optimal levels of support and cost benefits to internal customers. Required to support the Procurement transformation program and drive any assigned process-improvement initiatives across Europe. Liaise with the Global Procurement Organization to ensure the sharing of best working practices, knowledge and the leverage of economies of scale.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Development of subject-matter expertise for the assigned commodities and sub-categories, employing analysis of supply markets & trends data.
  • Supervision of buyers and/or analysts associated with the assigned commodities and sub-categories.
  • Strategic sourcing by means of RFXs.
  • Efficient execution of all purchasing standard operating procedures to secure materials and services to meet the needs of the business.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships between the Procurement team and its internal customers, that provide for appropriate levels of service and support being maintained and for priorities being addressed.
  • Contributing to the development and presentation of market-competitive category management strategies covering the assigned sub-categories and commodity groups.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of an effective Supplier Relationship Management program, to drive improvements in supplier performances and added-value contributions.
  • Close working with the Global Procurement Organisation to ensure the alignment and standardisation of business processes.

 

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Optimization of the spend for the direct packaging materials categories and sub-categories assigned.
  • Optimization of the spend for any ingredients and process chemicals categories and sub-categories assigned.
  • Coordinate and collaborate purchasing activities with the MRP controllers.
  • Provide advice to areas where purchases are not controlled by Procurement (e.g. R&T, GSC)
  • Provide support to the NPD team with the sourcing of new materials for the development of new products.
  • Contribute to the Procurement team’s performance against departmental and internal customer KPIs and SLAs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business cases to drive significant improvements in P-2-P process efficiencies
  • Lead, drive and deliver synergies with other spend categories such as CAPEX

 

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, combined with advanced Excel and IT skills.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Purchasing practices and legislation, especially within the Food & Beverage industry
  • Effective supervisory style and experience
  • Strong negotiation & influencing skills
  • Commercially astute
  • Results driven, combined with positive attitude, high level of energy, passion and enthusiasm.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel across EU as required.
  • Portuguese and English essential.  Additional European languages beneficial

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • University graduate of technology, science or business studies and/or membership of CIPS or equivalent.
