The AgGrowPro- District Agronomist is responsible for delivering AgGrowPro agronomic services, technical assistance, and crop management support to sugar cane growers within the assigned district. The role supports improved cane productivity, sustainability, and grower profitability through the application of best agronomic practices, field monitoring, grower training, and practical technical advisory services.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in agriculture
  • Hands-on experience in sugar cane farming is required
  • Oversight and management of farmer relationships and activities throughout the crop supply chain

 

 

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Strong working knowledge of sugar cane agronomy and field management practices
  • Advanced knowledge of crop establishment, replanting, and ratoon maintenance activities
  • Experience coordinating field equipment and daily field operations
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with cane growers and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant digital agriculture tools
  • Ability to maintain accurate agronomic data and provide timely reports for decision-making
  • Elevated levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic

 

 

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely delivery of AgGrowPro services to cane growers in compliance with established quality standards and service protocols.
  • Provide direct agronomic advice and technical assistance to sugar cane growers in the planning, establishment, and management of sugar cane crops.
  • Support the development and implementation of agronomic programs aimed at increasing cane yields and sugar production (AgGrowPro focus).
  • Promote the use of improved varieties and sustainable farming techniques through AgGrowPro initiatives.
  • Monitor pest, disease, and weed infestations across the district and recommend appropriate crop protection practices.
  • Coordinate field surveys and report on emerging pests and disease threats.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and field demonstrations to improve grower knowledge, promote adoption of recommended practices, and support district productivity objectives.
  • Develop educational materials and technical guidelines for growers.
