The Assistant Production Superintendent will support the Industrial Operations Production Superintendent in overseeing daily sugar production operations and ensuring that manufacturing activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in line with established quality standards. The role involves assisting with production planning, monitoring process performance, coordinating with operational teams, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to help achieve production targets while maintaining compliance with safety, sustainability, environmental, and QMS requirements.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Sugar Technology, or a related field, with five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in sugar manufacturing or a similar process plant, including at least three years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of sugar manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Proficiency in production planning, process optimization, and quality management systems

  • Bilingual capabilities (English & Spanish)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and exceptional work ethic.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders, employees, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong management experience in sugar production.
  • Strong budgeting, planning, organizing, and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize essential and time-sensitive activities.

 

 

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily milling, clarification, evaporation, crystallization, centrifugation, and sugar drying operations.
  • Ensure that production targets, efficiency rates, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Assist the IOPS in developing and implementing production schedules aligned with cane supply, factory capacity, product demand, and operational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate production records, analyze output data, and prepare regular operational and performance reports for management review.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards for raw sugar, Direct Consumption Sugars, and by-products by working closely with the Quality Supervisor to verify product standards and consistently apply quality-control programmes.
  • Promote a culture of safety and enforce compliance with established health and safety standards.
  • Supervise, guide, and motivate Shift Production Superintendents/Supervisors, Shift Pan Boilers, Shift Operators, and other personnel assigned to the production operation.
  • Work with the Engineering/Maintenance team to plan preventive maintenance and reduce equipment downtime.
  • Identify and discuss process improvement opportunities with the Industrial Operations Manager to enhance productivity, recovery rates, and cost efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and end-of-crop production reports, as required by the IOPS and Industrial Operations Manager.
