The Bagging Foreman will supervise and coordinate Direct Consumption sugar conditioning and packaging operations to meet production, quality, safety, and hygiene standards. The role includes monitoring product weight accuracy, supporting timely dispatch, guiding junior bagging employees, maintaining Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) KPI targets, and working closely with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is kept to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or technical training in mechanical or industrial operation (preferred)
  • Minimum five years’ experience in bagging/packaging operations, preferred in food or sugar processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

 

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Knowledge of packaging machinery, weighing systems, and safety practices.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities capable of motivating a team under pressure.
  • Attention to detail, safety consciousness, and commitment to quality always.
  • Physical stamina to work in a production environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, especially when dealing with other Operations personnel.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word) and ability to record data accurately.
  • Willingness to work in a plant environment (heat, noise, rotational shifts).
  • Strong willingness to learn, follow instructions, and develop technical skills.

 

 

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day bagging of sugar into standard packaging sizes.
  • Monitor machine performance, bag weights, sealing quality, and proper labeling of finished goods.
  • Assign tasks, supervise, and guide bagging personnel (Senior & Juniors).
  • Provide on-the-job training in equipment use, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Verify bag weights against standards and take corrective action where needed.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, environment, hygiene, and BSI’s packaging standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs and preventative checks of the bagging equipment, conveyors, and sewing/sealing equipment.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to understudy preventative maintenance tasks and eventually assume the role of preventative maintenance; assist with repairs during crops.
  • Maintain accurate daily production, loss, and overtime reports.
