Mechanic Assistant

The Mechanic Assistant will be supporting Mechanics with the inspection, maintenance, and repairs of factory machinery and agricultural equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations within the processing, logistics, and field operations. Also, assist Mechanics to repair diesel engines, farm tractors, bulldozers, buses, cranes, etc... 

Qualifications and Experience:

• A high school diploma would be preferred
• Technical/Vocational training in mechanical maintenance or ITVET Class II is an asset
• Knowledge about transmissions, brake systems, and electronic components unique to diesel engines would be an asset
• Experience in a mechanical or industrial environment preferred
• Experience in an agricultural setting is an advantage
• Valid driver’s license, B2, B3, C2, E

Skills and Competencies: 

• Basic mechanical knowledge and willingness to learn
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems, and maintenance
• Good comprehension skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Team player
• Good physical stamina and ability to work in demanding environments
• Ability to perform tasks that require heavy physical effort occasionally in inclement weather
• Basic problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and safety

 Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist in routine servicing and maintenance of agricultural machinery (tractors, harvesters, loaders,
• Clean, lubricate, and replace worn parts under supervision.
• Help inspect equipment for faults, wear and damage.
• Report abnormalities or potential failures to your supervisor.
• Properly use and maintain hand tools and basic mechanical equipment.
• Always use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Provide assistance both in maintenance shop as well as for repairs outside the shop.
• Respond to field calls and assist in-field repairs.
• Support mechanics in recording maintenance and repair activities and preventative maintenance.
