The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering engineering projects across the sugar factory to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role leads and supports capital works, plant upgrades, maintenance, and reliability improvements, equipment installations, and process optimization initiatives aimed at enhancing factory performance, increasing production capacity, and improving overall operational reliability. The incumbent will also carry out other duties as assigned by the Sr. Regional Project Engineer.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional engineering certification or registration is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years in industrial manufacturing, preferably in processing sugar cane and food processing, or continuous process industries
  • Experience in sugar processing plants, heavy industry, power generation, or process manufacturing is preferred
  • Experience in industrial projects
  • knowledge of rotating equipment, boilers, turbines, conveyors, pumps, and process systems

 

 

 

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong team coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work is performed in both office and industrial factory environments.
  • Exposure to heat, noise, dust, heavy machinery, and outdoor conditions.
  • May require extended hours during factory shutdowns, commissioning, or crop season operations.
  • Manage factory engineering projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Prepare project scopes, technical specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with technical guidance for factory operations and maintenance teams.
  • Assist troubleshooting major equipment and process issues affecting production.
  • Recommend engineering solutions to improve factory efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime.
  • Participate in shutdown planning and execution activities.
  • Ensure all projects comply with occupational safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe work procedures during project execution.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests and project cost estimates.
  • Supervise technicians, contractors, and consultants.
