The R&D Technician supports agricultural innovation by coordinating field research, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining key systems such as weather monitoring and compost operations to enhance sustainable sugarcane production.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Biology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the agricultural field
- Valid driver’s license
Skills and Competencies:
- Effective team leadership and coordination
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge of agricultural experimental design and field trial methods
- Proficiency with GIS and drone technologies for field applications
- Strong data management, reporting skills, and attention to detail
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate research initiatives in crop nutrition, weed control, IPM, plant growth regulators, and harvesting practices
- Manage the composting site and ensure adherence to operational standards
- Develop and maintain field maps using ArcGIS to support research and monitoring
- Provide technical support to the variety development program during planting and data collection
- Assist with sample processing using Spectra Cane (NIR equipment) for quality analysis
- Coordinate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) monitoring for pests such as Froghopper and Stemborers
