Tire Service Operator

The Tire Service Operator is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and replacing tires on company vehicles, heavy equipment, trailers, and mobile machinery. This role includes mounting and fitting, balancing (where required), puncture repairs, vulcanizing, supporting retreading activities, and ensuring tires remain in safe operating condition to minimize downtime and operational risk.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School Diploma in vocational/technical studies.
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in tire repair and maintenance.
• Expereince with heavy equipment and truck tires is an asset.
• Basic understanding of fleet maintenacen operations.

Skills and Competencies: 

• Knowledge of tire construction and repair techniques.
• Ability to use vulcanizing and tire repair equipment.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy tires.
• Attention to details and commitment to safety.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational demands.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Inspect tires for wear, damage, punctures, cuts, and alignment issues.
• Measure tire thread depth and air pressure regularly.
• Perform puncture repair using approved repairs methods.
• Condict hot and cold vulcanizing repairs on tires and tubes.
• Remove and install tires on light vehicles, trucks, trailers, tractors, loaders, and heavy equipment.
• Mount and demount tires using tire changing equipment and hand tools.
• Maintain tire inventory and report shortages.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ensure safe handling of heavy tires and pressurized equipment.
