OVERVIEW 

This position is responsible for developing, managing and leading the Sanitation program to maintain overall cleanliness of the Distribution Center and compliance with FDA and SQF regulations.  

 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop, manage and lead the Master Sanitation (MS) program to ensure compliance with customer expectations, SQF requirements, and government regulations 
  • Conduct inspections and provide regular reports on MS program effectiveness and completion rates 
  • Implement procedures and forms to support food quality and food safety. 
  • Develop and implement work orders for all required sanitation and dust control tasks. 
  • Ensure records are maintained and audit ready 
  • Provide analysis of program data to evaluate and optimize resource allocation 
  • Communicate with customers and government inspectors and take the lead during audits and inspections of the sanitation areas and programs 
  • Coordinate activities for corrective action on all inspections and audits; follow-up to ensure completion 
  • Maintain the sanitation chemical control program including SDS documentation.  Evaluate and select appropriate chemicals.  Read chemical labels, instructions or Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to develop training materials and provide instruction on proper handling, mixing, application and storage 
  • Evaluate and select appropriate equipment and supplies and manage  third party outside cleaning contracts as needed 
  • Determine the long range needs of the department develop plans and implement solutions. 
  • Provide training and orientation to all sanitation employees on safety, food safety and regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage the sanitation budget with appropriate labor and resource allocation; manage supply inventory and costs 
  • Ensure employees are wearing the proper PPE and following all safety and quality guidelines and requirements 
  • Additional assignments and participation on committees and in teams as needed. 
  • Other duties and projects as assigned 

 

 WORK EXPERIENCES 

  • At least 3 years of applicable professional experience working with facility-wide master sanitation systems 

  • Prefer at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role in a manufacturing environment 

  • Preferred SQF, HACCP, and PCQI certification 

  • Experience with SQF and GFSI and regulatory audits and inspections 

  • Knowledge of sanitation and cleaning practices and procedures 

  • Preferred knowledge of SAP, work order creation  

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited college/university is required OR a High School Diploma (or GED) and 4 years of equivalent work experience; an advanced degree in a related field of discipline from an accredited college university is preferred. 

 

 

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Leads a group of hourly/ union sanitation workers. 
  • Trains and develop direct reports 
  • Sets challenging and productive goals for his/her team and holds them accountable 
  • Coaches and guides direct reports on performance issues 
  • Conducts periodic meetings with direct reports to keep the team informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the business unit and company 
  • Monitors work productivity and recommend and implement changes to improve work productivity 
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns schedules in UKG-Kronos  
  • Coordinates workflow and procedures to maximize service 
  • Administers all policies and procedures set forth by FCC
