POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Management Supervisor- MRO, reports to the Supply Chain Manager MRO and is responsible for appropriately managing site-specific maintenance repair and operation inventory for material movements, supply and demand, and Materials Management-MRO related projects. The Materials Management Supervisor- MRO will act (on a plant level) as a liaison between Procurement, Operations and Planning, and the Supplier base to communicate long-term inventory requirements and work with all groups to implement optimal strategies. Additionally, this role has responsibility for directly leading and managing a team of on-site personnel, coordinating as needed with outside locations to optimize warehouse inventories. This will include but is not limited to: stock counts, physical staging and stock movements, as well as MRP settings and inventory replenishment for assigned plant(s). 

 

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university plus 3-5 years of work experience in a progressively responsible fulfillment, inventory, or production planning role
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing an ERP system in a supply chain/fulfilment capacity

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Degree major in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Prior experience using SAP material requirements planning is highly preferred
  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of process improvement and future fulfillment strategies is preferred

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regulates MRO inventory in order to meet plant needs, shutdowns, projects, and repairs
  • Works with other plant Materials Management folks to coordinate shared inventory
  • Responsible for assuring posting of goods movements (goods receipts, transfers, consumption, adjustments etc.)
  • Controls the movement and physical assignment of inventory around the warehouse including quarantined, supplier returns and point of issue
  • Completes physical inventory counts (according to ABC Cycle and ad-hoc as needed)
  • Troubleshoots and solves business process challenges that cause errors related to on-hand inventory, material movement, and invoice quantity errors
  • Facilitates movements of obsolete and slow moving inventory
  • Coordinates communications between Procurement, Operations, and Planning at a plant level, along with Corporate Accounts Payable
  • Participates in regional and global supply chain improvement projects
  • Ensures compliance with all aspects of safety related to warehouse contents and practices (housekeeping, layout improvement, material quarantine and operations)
  • Develops standard operating procedures and work aid instructions for operational excellence
  • Coordinates trials for new material specifications and/or new suppliers
  • Form and foster key relationships with the engineering and maintenance leadership
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a team of 3-10 direct reports (both union and non-union)
  • Conducts daily, weekly and monthly operational and planning meetings with direct reports to keep them informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the department and company
  • Completes payroll approvals and scheduling for hourly employees
  • Monitors work productivity and recommends and implements changes to improve work productivity
  • Plans and monitors workload for timely and accurate completion of tasks
  • Coordinates workflow and procedures to maximize service
  • Coaches and counsels direct reports on performance issues
  • Completes annual and semi-annual (where appropriate) performance appraisals for all direct reports in a timely manner and meets with staff to discuss and deliver the final appraisal
  • Arranges for cross training of team to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions
  • Counsels direct reports on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development
  • Administers all policies and procedures set forth by the company
  • Aligns management practices according to applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements pertaining to direct or indirect reports
