OVERVIEW:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting a broad range of accounting, payroll, banking, reporting, and administrative activities for the family office. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Accountant serves as a key resource for accounting operations, payroll administration, reconciliations, budgeting, cash management, and special projects while maintaining strong relationships with family members, household personnel, external vendors, and professional service providers. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and organizational skills, demonstrates sound judgment, and is committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality while delivering exceptional service and support.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably with an accounting or finance focus.

- Preferred knowledge of Sage 50 software and Adobe PDF
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Ability to develop relationships with the family accounting team, immediate Fanjul family members, and family personnel to support overall management of accounting, banking, and personal HR/payroll as required
- Ability to interact with executives and high level VIP individuals
- Ability to think on your feet and use various resources to achieve results
- Preferably 3+ years’ experience in accounting
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, review, and process all foreign and domestic payroll related expenses
- Act as HR representative for household/yacht staff
- Prepare accounts payable
- Prepare and submit check requests for various expenses and reimbursements
- Analyze past and predict future account activity to ensure adequate funding of accounts
- Prepare deposits
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and complete monthly journal entries
- Complete monthly budget reports
- Maintain payroll tax records and process payroll tax payments
- Manage and analyze records for donations, subscriptions, clubs, toll accounts, credit cards, automobiles, home and yacht improvements
- Manage and distribute petty cash
- Manage running cash balances
- Prepare wire requests, as needed
- Image and file account statements
- Assist in tax workpaper preparation
- Manage vehicle transfer paperwork
- Analyze social security deposits for necessary employees to ensure the maximum is not exceeded
- Manage and maintain an electronic filing system
- Analyze and discuss current procedures with family accounting team to review and determine where improvements can be made as needed
- Perform various holiday related tasks (compute bonuses, request checks from FCC, order gifts, prepare labels and send corporate holiday mailings, wrap and mail presents as required)
- Assist with annual fundraising event (November-February)
- Choose and maintain credit card processing platform
- Manage and utilize master tracking schedule to analyze and report event information on a daily basis
- Communicate with directors to coordinate event and attendee details
- Send invitations
- Accept RSVPs and maintain tracking schedule
- Accept checks and credit card payments for tickets, pledges, donations, and auction items
- Attend event, in order to, collect payments and assist with organization
- Mail any physical auction items to winner(s) after the event
- Complete thank you letters
- Complete and mail invoices
- Assist with Foundation
- Prepare Board of Directors meeting agendas and minutes
- Procure appropriate signatures, image, and mail accounts payable checks
- Act as point of contact for the Foundation, as needed
- Act as an executive assistant when permanent executive assistant is on vacation or sick
